Cell Phone Boosters
What are your options?
I know you remember the famous commercial where the person says repeatedly. "Can you hear me now? Can you hear me now?" He is trying to get a better cell phone signal. He needs a cell phone booster.
Poor signals are one of the cons of some cell phone plans. Cell phones use towers located strategically around the area where you live. They broadcast a continuous signal, which your cell phone picks up and that is how you talk to grandma. The problem is that sometimes if you are not in the right place, you do not get a very good signal and sometimes it "drops your call." How do you remedy this? There are several ways to fix this. We call them cell phone boosters.
You can go "whole hog" and put in a system that consists of an external antenna that picks up the weak signal, an amplifier that boosts the signal, and an internal antenna that re-broadcasts the signal inside your home or office. You can pay up to $500 for a system like this. They work very well as long as you can get that external antenna located in such a place where you can be sure to pick up a weak signal.
You can get a little device that fits in your phone under the battery case. They designed it to pick up the weak signal inside your phone, and organize it so you get better reception. At one time, they were all the rage. They sold for $9.95 a piece. Now you can get them on eBay for little to nothing. That is probably because, although they work, they do not always work as advertised.
One person shows you how to make a signal booster out of a couple of cans and some very inexpensive parts you can get at Radio Shack. You can assemble the whole thing yourself. It uses he can to collect the signal, a small piece of copper wire to pick it up and it plugs right into your cell phone. You can watch the video right here.
If you constantly have to move around to get a cell phone signal or you just donít get one inside your home or office, there is a remedy for you. It's called a cell phone booster. If you donít mind paying for it, you can get a system that picks up that weak signal outside and brings it inside where you can get good reception. You can also go to Radio Shack, get a few parts and put that used coffee can to good use. At least if the coffee is not so good, you can get some of your moneyís worth.
